Collection: Domaine des Ardoisières

Domaine des Ardoisières sits near the Swiss border in the shadow of Mont Blanc. This area of Savoie was originally planted by the Romans and had since become overgrown and derelict. In 1998, a group of viticulturalists began reclaiming the vineyards and replanting vines. Domaine des Ardoisières grew from 15 hectares of these steep-terraced vineyards. Since 2003, Brice Omont has been the winemaker, farming biodynamically and making wine from unique indigenous grapes. The resulting wines are incredibly mineral-driven with savoury and herbal characters typical of the grapes used. They have reached almost cult-like status despite being from such an off-the-beaten-track location. While the vineyards are in Savoie, the specific valley is not included in the Savoie AOC appellation, so the wines are labeled as Vin de Allobroges IGP.

Brice’s winemaking favours whole-cluster fermentation, fermentation and maturation in used oak barrels, and bottling with very low levels of sulphur dioxide.
