Collection: Canaille

Charles Antin's journey into the world of fine wine was not a conventional one. His foray into wine began during a period of self-discovery in his mid-twenties. Armed with degrees in English Literature and Creative Writing, Charles embarked on a quest to find wines that echoed the "visceral, emotional, ah-ha riposte of time and place that the great writers elucidated in their prose". His journey led him to the prestigious halls of Christie's Auction House, where he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the company's youngest state-licensed commercial auctioneer, and later the Global Head of Sales at the international powerhouse Zachy's Wine Auctions. Despite tasting some of the world's rarest and most collectible wines, Charles felt a yearning for the simplicity and excitement that wine brought to his early days.

Determined to rekindle that passion, Charles joined forces with long-time friend and winemaker Mikey Giugni of Scar of the Sea. Together, they founded Riff Raff Wine Co., focusing on crafting honest, authentic, and exciting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The philosophy at Canaille is "do one thing and do it well."  As a Burgundy-phile, Charles makes just one Pinot Noir and one Chardonnay each year, selecting the best barrels from the best vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley. Only 3 barrels of each were bottled.
