Collection: Domaine De L'Arlot

Since 2015, Geraldine Godot has been the winemaker at Domaine de l’Arlot, the historic and venerated estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The vineyards here have been farmed biodynamically since 2003, and include two monopoles in Premeaux: Clos des Forêts Saint Georges and Clos de l’Arlot. There are now 14ha of vineyards including a slice of the Grand Cru Romanée-Saint-Vivant as well as a parcel of Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots that borders Romanée-Saint-Vivant. This is definitely a property with great terroir and the luxury of having vineyards under a single domaine’s control.

In the cellar, Geraldine opts for short macerations and, as is the trend with many top estates, she has been reducing the levels of new oak. The style over the past few decades had been heavily influenced by Domaine Dujac, with multiple rounds of fruit sorting and high percentages of whole cluster. However, recently Geraldine has moved to destemming all of the fruit. She believes that in hot vintages, removing the stems retains a freshness to the wines.
