With Laurent Ponsot at the helm, Domaine Ponsot achieved heights that only a handful of other Burgundian domaines have managed. In 2017, Laurent (at the age of 60) and his son Clément broke off to start a new Domaine, simply named Laurent Ponsot. He owns 7 ha of vineyards and is purchasing fruit from top sites belonging to his friends. He works organically in the vineyard and follows lunar cycles and biodynamic principles, but doesn’t define his farming methods either way. He is also known to be very judicious with sulphur use to retain expressive aromatics, while still making clean and razor sharp wines.

Even though the domaine is young, it is already bottling wine from some of the most remarkable terroirs of the Côte d’Or. Laurent hasn’t stopped there; we will see many more great appellations released in the coming years. Laurent’s wines are dense and concentrated without sacrificing finesse, particularly in the Grand Crus that highly reward cellaring. Top sites include Clos de Bèze, Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin, Clos Saint Denis, Clos de Vougeot, and Corton-Charlemagne. We are very excited to be able to offer the prestigious wines of Laurent Ponsot to the Ontario market.
