10 years ago, we started CGU Fine Wines with a simple belief: the best way to understand a wine is to know the person who made it.

Behind the scenes

When we founded CGU Fine Wines in 2016, our mission was clear: bring wine producers closer to wine drinkers.

We’ve spent ten years doing exactly that, building relationships with the vignerons, and estates we believe in, and sharing their wines with you. But we’ve always known that the most powerful way to experience a wine is to hear its story from the person who made it. To sit across from them, to ask about the vintage, the soil, the decision to pick early or wait one more day. That’s what changes how you taste.

At the Table is the natural next step in that mission. Each event pairs a visiting producer from our portfolio with one of Toronto’s best restaurants for an eveningof food, wine, and conversation. No podium, no lecture — just a great meal,exceptional wine, and the person who made it, right there beside you.

What to expect

Events range from formal multi-course dinners at some of Toronto’s most
celebrated restaurants to relaxed lunches and focused masterclasses. Whatever the
format, the heart of it is the same: you, the winemaker, and wines you won’t taste
anywhere else.

Chanterêves

Tomoko Kuriyama crafts some of Burgundy’s most exciting wines from her base in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Her approach is meticulous, personal, and deeply rooted in the vineyard. Working across appellations in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, Chanterêves has quickly become one of the most sought-after names in Burgundy — wines of clarity, energy, and quiet precision that speak directly to place. David Duband

One of Burgundy’s most respected producers, David Duband farms over twenty appellations across the Côte de Nuits from his base in Chevannes, just outside Nuits- Saint-Georges. His wines are defined by precision, purity, and a deep sense of place — from village-level cuvées to Grand Cru Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. Poderi Colla

One of Piedmont’s quietly iconic estates, Poderi Colla is rooted in tradition and terroir, with holdings across some of the Langhe’s most celebrated sites, including Barolo, Barbaresco, and Alba. Guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention and respect for native varieties, the estate produces wines of elegance, structure, and longevity — from expressive Dolcetto to age-worthy Nebbiolo from crus like Bussia and Roncaglie.
